D23 Disney Believe Reveal
If you are a big Disney fan, as I am, then you likely know that this past weekend was the big D23 convention in Anaheim. This event is always a highlight for Disney fans, as there are big announcements and reveals about all things Disney—from films and shows to theme parks and, of course, Disney Cruise Line.
This year, I was on the edge of my seat checking the internet to see if any new announcements had been made about the new Disney Cruise Line ship set to launch in 2027, the Disney Believe. Disney has already announced a livestream event on October 7th that will reveal all of the exciting offerings and spaces planned for the ship, but I knew there was a chance that at least some news would be revealed at D23 to keep the anticipation building for the big reveal.
Luckily, I was right, and we did get a few little bits of information to keep us going until the big announcements come in a couple of months.
The three announcements made about the new Disney Believe involved the bow and stern characters, as well as the atrium statue that will be featured in the Grand Hall of the ship.
It was announced that the character featured front and center on the bow of the ship will be none other than Tinker Bell herself. She will be complemented by silhouettes of Peter, Wendy, John, and Michael on one side, with Captain Hook, Smee, and Tick-Tock on the other.
It was also revealed that the characters featured on the stern of the ship will be the fun-loving Disney duo of Woody and Buzz. In the concept art, we can see Buzz hanging from the ship while Woody playfully peeks through a life ring, tying in the cruising theme nicely.
This was actually my prediction for the stern characters on the Disney Believe, so not only am I excited to see the concept art, but I am also pretty excited that I got this prediction right!
I think Woody and Buzz are great choices. It will be nice to have the first Pixar characters featured on the stern of a Disney Cruise Line ship, and it is a nice follow-up to the first Marvel character, with Spider-Man featured on the Disney Destiny. Also, with the recent release and success of Toy Story 5, it seems especially fitting to give Woody and Buzz their moment in the sun.
The announcement I was most excited about was the reveal of the atrium statue that will be featured in the Grand Hall of the Disney Believe. A gorgeous image was shown announcing that the atrium statue will be Moana!
The statue will feature a fierce, forward-looking Moana, perhaps staring out toward the ocean itself, with her playful sidekicks Hei-Hei and Pua supporting her on one side.
I believe this is a great choice. Moana has such a strong connection to the sea and to wayfinding that it seems only fitting that she should be featured in the Grand Hall as the ship's atrium statue. She also perfectly encompasses the theme of the Disney Believe, which is “promise and possibility.”
I had not chosen Moana as my pick for the atrium statue. I was saving her to be featured in a new dining room and had chosen Frozen 2 as my pick for the atrium. But I can’t wait to see the beautiful Moana statue, and I think it is going to look amazing.
I might need to rework a few more of my predictions before the big October 7th reveal now that my pick for the atrium was not correct!
For now, I must be patient and wait until October 7th to get any more news about the much-anticipated Disney Believe. Stay tuned, and I will be sure to update everyone after the big reveal.
