I recently returned from a cruise with my family over Spring Break. As always, the final day of a cruise feels bittersweet—I spend so much time anticipating the trip that it’s hard to accept when it’s over. Like many cruise lovers, I cope by immediately beginning research for the next one. This time, however, I was greeted with an exciting surprise: the announcement of a new Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Believe, along with a teaser video.
Currently, Disney Cruise Line operates eight ships, including the newly launched Disney Adventure, which began its maiden voyage on March 10, 2026. The fleet has evolved significantly over the years, from the original Disney Magic (1998) and Disney Wonder (1999), to the larger Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy (2011–2012), and now the Wish-class ships. The Wish class debuted in 2022 with the Disney Wish, followed by the Disney Treasure (2024) and Disney Destiny (2025). The upcoming Disney Believe, expected in late 2027, will also belong to this class.
For those unfamiliar, Wish-class ships share a consistent layout and core offerings. What differentiates each ship is its theming—characters, décor, entertainment, and storytelling elements. This makes the reveal of a new ship especially exciting, as fans speculate how Disney will bring new stories to life onboard.
The Disney Believe has been announced with the overarching theme of “Promise and Possibility.” According to Disney’s press release, the ship will highlight stories from Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana, and The Little Mermaid. The teaser video also included additional intellectual properties (IPs), such as Tangled, Inside Out 2, Iron Man, Monsters, Inc., Zootopia 2, Fantasia, Star Wars, Toy Story, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Inspired by this, my family and I turned the announcement into a fun activity by predicting how these themes might appear throughout the ship. Below are my personal predictions.
Grand Hall Theme and Atrium Statue
I decided to begin with the space that creates the very first impression when you step onboard. The Grand Hall is the focal point of every Disney Cruise Line ship and an important space that guests visit daily to attend events, enjoy entertainment, take photos, and meet characters. On the Wish-class ships, which carry a cohesive theme throughout the vessel, the Grand Hall plays an especially important role in setting the tone and overall atmosphere. As the first interior space guests see, it establishes expectations for the entire cruise experience—making that first impression incredibly important.
The Grand Hall also serves as a gathering place for smaller performances and activities, adding to its significance throughout the voyage. A defining feature of each Grand Hall is its signature statue, which highlights one or more iconic Disney characters and acts as a central visual element of the space.
Based on both the teaser video and the press release, I believe that one of the five featured films—Encanto, Moana, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, or The Little Mermaid—will be chosen as the Grand Hall theme. I also think it is unlikely that Disney will reuse a theme that has already been prominently featured in another ship’s Grand Hall.
Previous ships have showcased a variety of beloved characters in this space, including Mickey Mouse steering the ship, Ariel, Captain Donald, Minnie Mouse in 1920s formal wear, Cinderella (alongside Gus, Jaq, and Lucifer), Aladdin and Jasmine soaring on a magic carpet, and most recently, Snow White aboard the Disney Adventure.
My Prediction for the Disney Believe
I went back and forth on this decision, but ultimately I believe Disney has other plans for Encanto and Moana, which I expect will appear elsewhere on the ship. Since Ariel from The Little Mermaid is already featured in the Grand Hall of the Disney Wonder, and Snow White is now represented on the Disney Adventure, that leaves Frozen as the strongest candidate.
More specifically, I predict a Frozen 2-inspired Grand Hall, as that version of the story was highlighted in the teaser video. While I initially thought a Snow White–inspired forest atrium could be beautiful, I ruled it out after learning it had already been used. Disney often looks for ways to diversify theming across its fleet, which further supports this reasoning.
A Frozen 2 theme would also align well with the anticipated release of Frozen 3 in November 2027, around the same timeframe as the Disney Believe. Disney has a history of creating synergy between its ships and other major projects—for example, the Disney Wish coinciding with the release of Wish, and the Disney Destiny embracing a heroes-versus-villains theme alongside new developments at Magic Kingdom.
I can easily imagine a stunning Grand Hall inspired by the Enchanted Forest, featuring rich autumnal colors and natural elements drawn from Frozen 2. At its center, a statue of Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven gazing “Into the Unknown” would perfectly capture the spirit of adventure and self-discovery. This concept would not only be visually striking but would also beautifully reflect the ship’s overarching theme of “Promise and Possibility.”
Additionally, while Frozen is already represented in the Disney Theatre and rotational dining on other ships, it has not yet been featured as the central theme of a Grand Hall on a Wish-class ship—making it feel like a natural and well-balanced choice for the Disney Believe.
Musicals in the Disney Theatre
Now on to my favorite part of any Disney cruise—the Broadway-style productions in the Disney Theatre. This is the aspect of a cruise I look forward to the most, and I am always hoping Disney announces an exciting lineup of shows for each new ship. In fact, I often base my cruise decisions on the musicals being offered. I also make it a point to sail on new Disney ships rather than returning to the same one, largely so I can experience new productions.
For those who may be unfamiliar, each Disney Cruise Line ship typically features three theatrical productions. The first is a premier, ship-exclusive show created specifically for that vessel. The second is usually a full-scale musical adaptation of a Disney animated film that may also appear on another ship in a different class. The third is a compilation-style production—an original Disney story that weaves together scenes and songs from a variety of beloved films. While this third category is not tied to a single movie, these shows are still incredibly well done and consistently entertaining.
To provide some context, here are examples of productions currently featured across the fleet. The Disney Magic includes Tangled: The Musical, Twice Charmed (a creative twist on the Cinderella story exploring what might have happened if the prince had not found Cinderella’s glass slipper), and Disney Dreams: An Enchanted Classic. The Disney Wonder features Frozen: A Musical Spectacular, The Golden Mickeys (an awards-style show celebrating Disney songs), and Disney Dreams.
The Disney Dream offers Beauty and the Beast as its premier show, along with The Golden Mickeys and Disney Believe. Its sister ship, the Disney Fantasy, features Aladdin, Frozen: A Musical Spectacular, and Disney Believe.
Moving to the Wish-class ships, the Disney Wish debuted with The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Disney Seas the Adventure. The Disney Treasure introduced Disney’s Tale of Moana, alongside Beauty and the Beast and Disney Seas the Adventure. Most recently, the Disney Destiny launched with Hercules, Frozen: A Musical Spectacular, and Disney Seas the Adventure.
My Predictions for the Disney Believe
Finally, onto my predictions for the Disney Believe—and the show I am most excited to speculate about.
My top prediction for the premier exclusive musical is Encanto. I am truly hoping Disney chooses this one. Encanto was a massive success and remains incredibly popular, making it an excellent candidate for a stage adaptation. Additionally, with music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the film already has strong Broadway roots, which would translate beautifully to a theatrical production.
Recent Disney Cruise Line originals such as Disney’s Tale of Moana and Hercules have been widely praised for their innovative staging, special effects, and use of puppetry. Encanto offers similar opportunities—particularly in bringing Casita to life on stage. I believe it has the potential to deliver the same “wow” moments that audiences have come to expect from these newer productions.
I also find it significant that Encanto was featured prominently in both the teaser video and the official press release. This suggests it will play a major role on the ship. When considering the other films highlighted, none seem to fit as well for a flagship theatrical production. Moana is already featured on the Disney Treasure, The Little Mermaid debuted on the Disney Wish, and Frozen is currently represented on multiple ships. While a Frozen 2 adaptation could be impressive, the franchise is already heavily present in the fleet. As for Snow White, although it has not yet been adapted into a Disney Cruise Line stage production, it may not offer the same large-scale theatrical moments or musical appeal as Encanto.
For the second musical, I predict Tangled: The Musical. This production is currently exclusive to the Disney Magic, and Disney often rotates shows between ships and classes. Since Tangled was also featured in the teaser video, it feels like a strong possibility. A secondary option could be The Little Mermaid, though I suspect Disney may keep it exclusive to the Disney Wish for a while longer.
For the third production, I am making more of a hopeful prediction than a strictly logical one. While the safe assumption would be the return of Disney Seas the Adventure, I would love to see Disney bring back Disney Believe from the Dream-class ships. This would still fulfill the role of a compilation-style show while adding variety across the newer ships.
Additionally, Disney Believe aligns perfectly with the ship’s overall theme of “Promise and Possibility.” Its story—centered on a daughter helping her father rediscover belief in magic—feels especially fitting, not the mention the title of the play would make it perfect for the ship. While Disney Seas the Adventure is enjoyable, I personally find it to be the least impactful of the current offerings, in part due to its shorter runtime. Most Disney Cruise Line productions run close to an hour, whereas Disney Seas the Adventure is closer to 30 minutes, which can feel somewhat brief for a main evening performance.
Rotational Dining: Main Restaurants
One of the most unique aspects of a Disney Cruise Line vacation is rotational dining. Each ship features three main dining rooms, and throughout your cruise, your party rotates between them—while your serving team rotates with you. This creates a more personalized and consistent dining experience, which is one of the things Disney does exceptionally well.
On the Wish-class ships, two of the three restaurants have remained consistent so far: World of Marvel and 1923. While the shows and details may vary slightly between ships, these two dining experiences have become staples of the class. The third restaurant, however, is where Disney introduces something truly unique—typically a themed dining experience centered around a live dinner show.
For example, the Disney Wish features Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, the Disney Treasure offers Plaza de Coco, and the Disney Destiny introduces Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King. These immersive dining experiences combine storytelling, music, and cuisine in a way that makes them a highlight of the cruise.
My Prediction for the Disney Believe
For the Disney Believe, my prediction for the signature dining experience is a Moana-themed restaurant.
Moana continues to be incredibly popular, especially with the recent release of Moana 2 and the upcoming live-action adaptation. This makes it a strong candidate for a major onboard experience. I can easily imagine a vibrant, island-inspired dining environment featuring Pacific Island cuisine, similar in spirit to offerings found at Disney’s Polynesian resorts.
From an entertainment standpoint, Moana would translate beautifully into a dinner show. The music, characters, and story lend themselves to high-energy performances, and Disney could incorporate elements of a luau-style celebration, much like the live musical performances seen in Plaza de Coco. This type of immersive storytelling would make for a memorable and engaging dining experience for guests of all ages.
While it is possible that only one restaurant will change, I personally hope Disney takes the opportunity to refresh World of Marvel. While the concept is popular, some versions of the experience have received mixed feedback, with guests hoping for a more engaging and dynamic show.
If Disney were to make a change, I would love to see the return of Animator’s Palate. This is a fan-favorite dining experience that combines animation, storytelling, and interactive elements, often culminating in a magical character moment. It would also tie in nicely with the appearance of Sorcerer Mickey in the teaser video.
Another possibility could be a Star Wars-inspired dining experience, which could appeal to a similar audience as World of Marvel while offering something fresh and highly immersive. However, if I had to choose, Animator’s Palate would be my top pick—I would love for my family to experience it again, as it has been several years since we last dined there.
As for 1923, I expect it will return on the Disney Believe. Since it does not feature a central dinner show, it feels less necessary to update. It offers a refined atmosphere and consistently good food, and I would be more than happy to see it included again.
Bars and Lounges
Each Wish-class ship features several uniquely themed bars and lounges that serve as both relaxing spaces and entertainment venues. These areas are designed to appeal to a range of guests, offering everything from family-friendly activities—such as trivia and animation classes—to adult-exclusive experiences in the evenings.
Some lounges are open to all ages during the day and transition to adult-only spaces later at night, allowing guests to experience the immersive theming in different ways throughout their cruise.
My Predictions for the Disney Believe
For the signature themed lounge—previously the Hyperspace Lounge on the Disney Wish and the Haunted Mansion Parlor on both the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny—I predict a The Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired concept.
This film has a strong and dedicated fan base, and its distinctive visual style would translate beautifully into a lounge setting. From a design perspective, Disney Imagineers could create an atmosphere that shifts between Halloween Town and Christmas Town, offering a unique and highly immersive experience. Given that The Nightmare Before Christmas was featured in the teaser video, this feels like a strong and fitting choice.
For the piano bar, I initially selected a The Little Mermaid-themed concept. This space has previously been themed to Cinderella (Nightingale’s), The Aristocats (Scat Cat Lounge), and 101 Dalmatians (De Vil’s), all of which incorporate a musical or performance element tied to the story.
However, after further consideration, I believe a Tangled-inspired “Snuggly Duckling” piano bar may be a better fit. One common thread among previous piano bar themes is the presence of a musical or piano-centric scene within the film. While The Little Mermaid is centered around music, it does not specifically align with that detail.
A Snuggly Duckling-themed lounge could offer a fun, interactive atmosphere for adults, potentially incorporating audience participation similar to the experience in De Vil’s on the Disney Destiny. Guests could engage with performers, contribute humorous “dreams” or stories, and enjoy a lively, theatrical environment inspired by the pub scene in Tangled. While I originally avoided repeating themes across multiple spaces, Disney has done this before, so it remains a strong possibility.
For the central lounge space, I am predicting a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs theme. This area has previously been inspired by The Princess and the Frog (on the Disney Wish), Jungle Cruise (on the Disney Treasure), and a Marvel concept (on the Disney Destiny).
A Snow White-inspired lounge could be visually stunning, with a forest setting, warm wood tones, and charming details featuring woodland creatures. I can imagine intricate carvings, soft lighting, and perhaps even an interactive wishing well element that enhances the storytelling and atmosphere of the space.
For the pub, I am going with a Star Wars theme. While it would not replicate the Hyperspace Lounge, this could be a more casual, cantina-style environment designed specifically for adult guests. Previous pub themes have included nautical elements, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Pirates of the Caribbean, all of which demonstrate Disney’s willingness to experiment with creative concepts in this space.
A Star Wars-inspired pub could be a fun and immersive addition, offering unique beverages and subtle storytelling elements that transport guests to a galaxy far, far away.
Entertainment Lounge Prediction
Another space that plays a key role onboard is the main entertainment lounge. This venue is used for a variety of activities, including family game shows, trivia, performances, and interactive events. It is a flexible space that hosts both daytime family programming and evening entertainment, making its theme especially important.
On previous Wish-class ships, this space has taken on a range of creative themes. The Disney Wish features Luna, the Disney Treasure offers Sarabi (inspired by The Lion King), and the Disney Destiny introduces Saga with a Marvel theme.
For the Disney Believe, I predict a Fantasia-inspired lounge centered around Sorcerer Mickey.
I think this theme would allow Disney Imagineers to create a truly magical and visually striking environment. The rich, deep blues and purples of Sorcerer Mickey’s robe, combined with sparkling celestial elements, could give the space a sense of wonder and enchantment. It would also tie in nicely with the appearance of Sorcerer Mickey in the teaser video, making it feel like a natural fit for the ship.
Additionally, Fantasia offers a timeless connection to Disney’s musical roots, which makes it especially appropriate for a space dedicated to entertainment and performance.
Ice Cream Parlor Prediction
One of the most fun and whimsical spaces on any Disney Cruise Line ship is the ice cream and dessert parlor. These specialty shops offer gelato, sundaes, and themed treats for an additional charge, and they are always designed with playful and imaginative themes.
Recent Wish-class ships have done an excellent job with these spaces. The Disney Wish features Joyful Sweets inspired by Inside Out, the Disney Treasure offers Jumbeaux’s Sweets themed to Zootopia, and the Disney Destiny includes Edna À La Mode based on The Incredibles. Each of these concepts is creative, visually engaging, and perfectly suited to a dessert-focused venue.
For the Disney Believe, I predict a Monsters, Inc.-themed ice cream parlor.
I think this theme would be a perfect match for the space. A Monstropolis-inspired setting would give Imagineers the opportunity to create something colorful, quirky, and full of personality. I can easily picture fun design elements like doors lining the walls, playful monster-themed décor, and a central statue featuring Mike and Sulley enjoying oversized ice cream sundaes.
This concept would appeal to both kids and adults, combining nostalgia with humor and creativity. It also aligns well with the lighthearted and energetic atmosphere that works best in a dessert venue.
Coffee Shops
Finally, we come to the coffee shops—spaces that may be smaller in scale but still play an important role in the overall guest experience. These cafés offer specialty coffees, teas, and light bites, and often feature some of the most charming and detailed theming on the ship.
Across the fleet, Disney has shown a great deal of creativity with these spaces, drawing inspiration from films such as The Sword in the Stone, Pinocchio, Moana, Hercules, Mulan, and Brave. One pattern I have noticed is that at least one of the coffee shops often shares its theme with a major entertainment offering on the ship, particularly the premier stage musical.
With that in mind, I predict that one of the coffee shops on the Disney Believe will be themed to Encanto. This would complement my prediction for the ship’s premier theatrical production and allow Disney to extend the story and atmosphere of Casita into another area of the ship. A warm, colorful café inspired by the Madrigal family home could be a cozy and inviting space for guests to relax.
For the second coffee shop, I am predicting a theme inspired by Inside Out 2. This film was featured in the teaser video, and its vibrant, emotion-based world could translate into a fun and visually engaging café environment. Each section of the space could reflect a different emotion, creating a playful and immersive experience for guests.
Final Thoughts
The Disney Believe has all the potential to be an exceptional addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet. With its theme of “Promise and Possibility” and the strong lineup of stories highlighted in both the teaser video and press materials, there is a lot to be excited about.
While these predictions are purely speculative, imagining how Disney might bring these films and characters to life is part of the fun. One of the things I enjoy most about Disney travel—both at sea and in the parks—is the anticipation leading up to the experience. Finding ways to build that excitement as a family makes the journey even more special.
Even if the final choices differ from these predictions, I am confident that Disney will create something memorable. The Imagineers have consistently found ways to blend storytelling, innovation, and immersive design to deliver truly magical experiences.
For anyone else eagerly awaiting more details, I highly recommend making your own predictions. It’s a fun and engaging way to build excitement, especially for families counting down to their next cruise.
No matter what the Disney Believe ultimately becomes, I have no doubt it will offer something special—and I cannot wait to step onboard and experience it for myself.
Happy sailing!
